DEVELOPER investment in Botany continues with plans submitted for a business, cafe and shopping hub.
A development application has been received for a precinct in Lord St — just metres from the new University of Technology Sydney campus.
The DA proposes a mass refurbishment of two commercial buildings and the construction of a three-storey block.
Inside there will be space for light industry and offices. There will also be shops, cafes, restaurants, an indoor play facility and a childcare centre.
The site, which is bordered by Booralee Park to the east, Lord St to the north and Daphne St to the south, covers 29,766sq m. There will be 376 parking spaces.
But the application has attracted criticism from residents who say a link road to the site will be dangerous and noisy.
The application, which has been submitted to Bayside Council, comes after it was announced UTS was opening a campus, also in Lord St. Mayor Bill Saravinovski said the UTS move was a vote of confidence in Botany and would lead to others following suit.
