There is no such thing as cutting corners at Out Of The Blue Clovelly.
The mouth-watering burger shop in the seaside suburb of Clovelly prepares most of its delicious ingredients from scratch.
“We make all our own sauces and cut and prepare our own meat,” manager Julien Gubian said.
He added their fish was crumbed on the spot and their salads were cut and prepared on site before being slapped into their wide variety of eye-popping burgers.
The burger and fish joint on Clovelly Rd was this week announced as the best burger shop in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, as voted by our readers.
The store currently boasts a whopping 16 burgers on its menu and Mr Gubian revealed the most popular would have to be the chicken and fish varieties.
He said the burgers were the kind that “you just don’t get sick of” and some customers would come in three times a week to grab a burger.
“I’ve been eating them for 15 years and I’m not sick of them.”
He added the vegetarian and vegan options were also becoming hugely popular.
Mr Gubian explained the store had been running for 25 years and had grown a loyal following.
“My parents (Jean-Marc and Sophie Gubian) started it all those years ago just the two of them.
“They put everything they had into it. It started out quite slow and the reputation built over time to the point where it was just two of them and now there is eight of us,” he said.
“My dad is French and he was a seafood chef for half of his life and learned to do everything the old fashioned way and kind of brought that into a fish and chip shop.”
Mr Gubian said a big thank you to all the customers who voted for the shop and continued to eat at the store.
“If it was not for them we would not be half the shop we are now.”
