Rocky’s K9 Rescue launches food appeal for rescue dogs
Large dogs are often the first to be abandoned. Now they need your help to eat this winter.
Animal rescue operation Rocky’s K9 Rescue is calling out for donations of dog food.
The Canley Vale group is desperate for supplies to feed their ever-changing roster of dogs and puppies.
The organisation travels around to pounds in different Sydney councils, as well further out across regional NSW, and saves animals on death row.
Run by Merna Karam and a team of volunteers, the pets are then put in foster care or boarding kennels while permanent homes are found.

Volunteer Michelle Glover said the shelter was asking for interested people to help out with dry and wet food for the animals.
“We have a list of particular brands the animals need,” she said.

“It’s not that they are fussy, but some of the other brands upset their bellies, so best to stick to the ones we know that won’t do that.
“These poor babies have been through enough already and we don’t want to cause any more problems for them.”
In fact the rescue operation specialises in large dogs — often among the first to be abandoned by some uncaring owners.
The organisation says it does not discriminate by age, size or breed.
“We rescue every type,” Ms Glover said.
Brands being called for include Natures Gift (wet and dry), Optimum (dry only), My Dog, (wet and dry), Natures Goodness (wet and dry) and Purina One (dry).
