PRESCHOOLERS dressed in crazy wigs, colourful pants and tutus will zip around the dance floor to classic disco hits much to the adoration of their beaming parents at the Squiggles and Giggles’ Little Rockers Red Nose Disco later this month.
Pupils from the Early Learning Childcare Centre in Bankstown will don disco dress and signature red noses to raise cash for SIDS & Kids. They are also backing DoSomething Day on Wednesday.
Squiggles and Giggles Early Learning Childcare Centre director Ghada Diab said the cause was close to the hearts of her staff as they worked with young children every day.
“Because we work with children it’s a special one and we like to make a big event out of it,” Ms Diab said.
Sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS, is an unexplained death, usually during sleep, of a seemingly healthy baby less than a year old.
SIDS and Kids supports families who lose children because of SIDS and also funds research into the condition.
Ms Diab said the centre had held a disco for the past five years.
“Honestly every year I feel like it’s a bigger and better event because we put so much effort into it with the families and children … we love it,” she said.
“The kids enjoy it and have fun and at the same time we are raising money and awareness — it’s amazing.”
The centre has set a target of $1000. Red Nose Day is on June 24.
