A TODDLER playing with a booster toilet seat got a shock when it became stuck around his head.

Three-year-old Jackson Blackmore found the seat while his mum, Kellie, was cleaning the bathroom at their Moorebank home today around 2.30pm.

“He says, ‘Mum look at me’, I turned around and, sure enough, it was stuck,” Mrs Blackmore said.

“I probably laughed for the first 10 minutes, then I thought, this is serious, I can’t get this off.”

Mrs Blackmore called her mother over and the two tried removing the seat in various ways, including trying to pull it off Jackson’s head and attempting to cut through it with a pair of secateurs.

“I spent an hour trying to get it off, trying to keep him calm — he was hysterical,” Mrs Blackmore said, adding she couldn’t even drive anywhere because there was no way Jackson could be strapped into his carseat.

“My mum said ‘we’re going to have to ring the fire brigade for some advice’.”

Plenty of fireys were on hand to give it a go but each time the loo seat would become stuck.

Firefighters from Liverpool fire station arrived within a few minutes of the call and, after failing to pull the seat off, managed to cut through it with a hacksaw.

“They gave him a teddy bear while they tried to get it off,” Mrs Blackmore said.

Eventually Jackson was freed without injury.

Mrs Blackmore said she hoped the incident would serve as a warning to other parents to watch out where they left such items when children were around.

When asked if she was scared, Mrs Blackmore said she was concerned but had made sure her son could still breathe.

“I probably wasn’t too worried. It was more a case of, how am I going to get this off?”

Following Jackson’s escape, she admitted: “it was quite hilarious”.
