Wife of alleged $1.5m credit card fraudster charged

A 49-year-old woman has been charged over her alleged role in fraud offences with her 44-year-old husband.

The wife of a man who allegedly defrauded his employer of more than $1.2m worth of credit card transactions has also been charged with fraud offences.

Police arrested the 49-year-old woman, who is married to the 44-year-old man, at a home in Estuary Cres, The Ponds today.

It’s alleged the woman was involved in fraud offences worth more than $1.5 million and was fraudulently paid about $376,000 by her husband from 2009 to 2016.

Police allege the man, who had worked at a marketing company for the past decade, made close to 1500 personal transactions on company credit cards, worth $1,242,766.

This brings the total amount allegedly fraudulently obtained by the couple to more than $1.5 million.

She was charged with obtaining money by deception and dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception.

The man faces 63 charges, including 62 counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception and one count of dealing with the proceeds of crime.

The pair have been granted bail to face Blacktown Local Court on November 25.
