Students join defence forces to mark Remembrance Day in Riverstone
SEVERAL schools laid wreaths to mark Remembrance Day at the Riverstone Cenotaph today as Australia and the world marked the end of hostilities in World War I.

SEVERAL students from local schools joined members of the military, police and the Riverstone Schofields RSL Sub-branch and politicians to lay wreaths to mark Remembrance Day at the Riverstone Cenotaph today as Australia and the world marked the end of hostilities in World War I.
At 11am on 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of war.
Representatives from Barnier Public School, St Johns Primary School, Riverstone, Riverbank Public School, Hambledon Public School, Vineyard Public School, Norwest Christian College, Quakers Hill East Public School, Riverstone Public School, Riverstone High School, Wyndham College attended the ceremony, and later laid the wreaths.
The short and emotional service captured the essence of the day and was also attended by representatives from the NSW Police Force and the 176 Air Dispatch Squadron from Richmond. An officer from the squadron also spoke at the service.
Riverstone state Liberal MP Kevin Conolly was among the local politicians who also paid their respects.
