How Riverstone’s Sarah Olsen is carving up her equestrian rivals

Rising equestrian rider Sarah Olsen and her new horse We Love Lola gained more admirers after being crowned overall state interschool rider/horse combination at the 2016 Godolphin State Inter-school Equestrian Championships.

RISING equestrian rider Sarah Olsen and her new horse We Love Lola gained more admirers after being crowned overall state interschool rider/horse combination at the 2016 Godolphin State Inter-school Equestrian Championships

Sarah, who has already been featured as our Junior Sports Star nominee, showed great stamina and skills in the five-day championships at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre.

The 15-year-old Riverstone rider competed on two horses, We Love Lola and Black Pearl, in eight events at the championships which attracted 670 competitors from more than 200 schools.

Sarah won the eventing 80cm (dressage, showjumping and cross-country), combined training 60cm (dressage and showjumping), the secondary show horse and the secondary working hunter and elementary dressage.

The Tara Anglican College student followed it up with fourth placing in novice dressage, sixth in preliminary dressage and seventh in combined training 80cm to be named overall secondary show horse champion.

Not content with this classy display, Sarah used the recent school holidays to emerge champion at the NSW State Pony Club Combined Championships.

“I was very overwhelmed with the results from state inter-schools because I was not expecting to place so well in such a competitive field of talented riders,” Sarah said.

“I am so proud of how well my horses performed and I am very excited at representing NSW at the Inter-school National Championships in September,” Sarah said.

Sarah is enjoying a superb year with titles at the Sydney Royal Easter Show,. Canberra Royal Show and Bathurst Royal Show among others.
