JOY Burton’s faith in humanity has been restored in spades after an unknown woman handed over her lost handbag containing some money and credit cards.
The 89-year-old great grandmother didn’t realise she had left her handbag on a shopping trolley until she had reached her home at Gateway Lifestyle Stanhope Gardens last week.
“I was upset when I came home but my neighbour drove me back to the shopping centre and we spoke to all the trolley boys and the staff at Coles asking if anyone had handed over a handbag without luck,” she said.
“We also asked the centre management but no one had seen the handbag and I cried all the way home thinking about what I lost.
“Then we were parking back at the Gateway village, the girl from the office ran up to us and said someone had handed over the handbag after we had left.
“I started crying again thinking this was amazing.
“I was told a very lovely young girl had come to the residence and given my handbag with everything intact.”
“However, this girl did not leave any name or contact number so I am unable to thank her.
“I am very grateful to her and this has restored my faith in humanity and proves there are still many honest people out there.
“I would love to meet this girl and thank you personally for her kindness.
“This was the first time I had left my handbag hanging on the troller and I will never do it again.”
In February this year, Joy Burton and her husband Ron, who both migrated from England, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. The couple have two children, four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
