GLAMOROUS Tasha Ross said her third runner-up finish at the 2016 Miss World Australia finals last Friday was an amazing feeling as “it’s always great to be in the top five”.
“Naturally it’s disappointing when you don’t win but I am happy to finish in the top five and also win a free trip to Thailand as a result,” the Rouse Hill beauty said after the finals in Melbourne.
She finished behind Madeline Cowe from Queensland.
The reigning Miss Tourism Australia was fourth runner-up at the 2015 Miss Universe Australia.
“At these pageants there are several talent scouts who look for models so it’s also good for networking,” Ms Ross, 20, said.
“I have also won a free trip to Thailand with the other top finishes so it’s great.”
“Now it’s back to uni studies and exams in two weeks time.”
The 20-year-old Rouse Hill university student has come a long way since being the state finalist in the Girlfriend Model search at the age of 15.
Ms Ross, an anti-bullying advocate, raised more than $9,000 from her fundraising efforts for Variety, the Children’s Charity, one of the beneficiaries of the Miss World Australia competition.
“I have raised over $9,000 for Variety The Children’s charity which is far more than I had originally hoped for and there is still time to donate until the national finals are under way.”
“Tasha’s incredible contribution to such an honourable cause and devotion to Miss World Australia and our ethos has now put her in the running to be the next campaign ambassador for Novo Shoes,” a Miss World Australia spokeswoman said.
