THE sixth Rouse Hill Billy Cart Derby smashed records in participation as brilliant autumn weather brought out families in their droves at Rouse Hill town centre on Saturday.

A record 120 carts, many colourfully painted, took part in the annual event, which underlined the strong community spirit for this family event.

Pastor Ric Sindel, of the Rouse Hill Community Baptist Church, said it was easily the biggest and best supported derby, with four races held every 15 minutes.

“The community spirit was fantastic and we have had very positive feedback,” Rev Sindel said. “The whole event was very well run and we had around 70 volunteers making sure everything was going smoothly on the day.
