Police say they are yet to receive a formal complaint about the reckless scooter rider who crashed into a Maserati at Riverstone on Monday — an incident which was caught on camera and went viral online.
The dashcam footage of the crash has attracted more than 400,000 views on Facebook since being shared on the Dashcam Owners Australia page.
The short footage captures what looks to be a young man turning a corner onto Garfield Rd on his scooter from Piccadilly St on Monday about 5.15pm.
He is distracted using a mobile phone and swerves across the centre line, crashing into an oncoming car after narrowly missing a truck.
His scooter was flung across the road during the heavy collision.
He was not wearing a helmet.
Quakers Hill police told the Times they were aware of the video but at this stage they were not investigating as no-one had reported the incident.
A Schofields resident, who did not want to be named, said she saw the crash unfold and the scooter rider looked to be in his late teens or early 20s.
She said the car he crashed into was a white Maserati and the scooter rider managed to get up and leave the scene without assistance and did not appear to be injured.
“The Maserati was coming up the inside of the truck and [the scooter rider] just came flying across the front of the truck and then the Maserati has hit him,” she said.
“He seemed to just go across the bonnet a little bit. He just got up and was walking around.
“I did not think he would get up the way he did but in saying that the car he hit was not going very fast.
“It could have been worse, he is lucky the truck did not hit him.”
She said people got out of their vehicles to check if he was okay, but the rider left the scene within a matter of minutes without waiting for police.

“The guy in the Maserati pulled into the petrol station (where I was watching the incident) and said he thought he had killed him. He was pretty shaken.”
There was a bit of damage to his car as well, she said.
The video attracted thousands of comments on social media with most condemning the scooter rider’s reckless behaviour.
