AFTER overwhelming community support for Kellyville identity Sam “The Honey Man” Habibi’s roadside stall, Hills Shire Council has agreed he can stay, just at a different location.
Recently the Rouse Hill Times reported on Mr Habibi’s honey stall, which used to be on Samantha Riley Drive in Kellyville, before being relocated to Glenhaven Rd, due to road widening.
However, concerns for the safety of people visiting the Glenhaven site were brought to the Hills Shire Council’s attention.
With the safety concerns in mind and the fact no approval for the stall was sought by Mr Habibi or the property owner, the council requested the stall cease using the new location to trade by October 14.
However, upon inquiries made by the Times, the council confirmed it issued Mr Habibi and the owner of the property with a notice of intention to give an order to cease use of the premises.
As a result Mr Habibi met council staff.
“Mr Habibi now intends to relocate to another property on Glenhaven Rd where there is an existing stall, safe off-street parking and facilities to grow/make his honey on-site,” a council spokesman said.
“Given this, the new location will be acceptable to council.
“Mr Habibi will remove the structure he erected without approval on and in front of 143 Glenhaven Rd.”
