Police seize 27kg of cannabis worth an estimated street value of $1.4m from Glenwood house

POLICE seized up to 159 cannabis plants and 27kg of cannabis, with an estimated street value of $1.4 million, plus equipment used to set up a hydroponics system at an address in Knightsbridge Ave, Glenwood last Wednesday.

POLICE seized up to 159 cannabis plants and 27 kilograms of cannabis, with an estimated street value of $1.4 million, plus equipment used to set up a hydroponics system at an address in Knightsbridge Ave, Glenwood last Wednesday.

A police report said at 10.30am officers from the NSW Police Force North West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad executed a search warrant on the address and located a sophisticated hydroponic system set up for the purpose of cultivating cannabis plants. As a result of the search warrant, a Canley Heights man, 25, and a Cabramatta man, 20, were arrested and taken to Riverstone Police Station. Both men were charged with cultivate a prohibited plant, supply prohibited drug and divert electricity without authority. They were refused bail to appear at Blacktown Court the next day.

KELLYVILLE: A 24-year-old man stopped by police in Tremaine Ave early on Wednesday morning has been charged with theft. Police stopped the Kellyville man at 12.40am. After searching him they allegedly found a quantity of mail stuffed down the front of his trousers.

STANHOPE GARDENS: POLICE patrolling Century Drive, Stanhope Gardens spoke to a 21-year-old man in an Audi sedan at 10.10pm last Wednesday. A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered 2.8g of cocaine in a duffel bag. He was interviewed at Castle Hill police station and charged with possess prohibited drug.

THE PONDS: A Quakers Hill woman, 34, was charged with driving while disqualified in an uninsured and unregistered car after a silver Mazda Tribute was stopped on Wakely Ave, The Ponds last Wednesday. A police report said at 8am they stopped the car and spoke to the female driver. Checks revealed she was disqualified from driving and the car was unregistered. She is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on September 18.

QUAKERS HILL: A man driving a black coloured BMW on Warrimoo Drive, Quakers Hill, last Tuesday was charged with driving with a mid range prescribed concentration of alcohol in his blood after he was stopped for a random breath test. A police report said at 2.50am the driver returned a positive reading and was taken to Riverstone Police Station where he returned a reading of 0.085. His licence was suspended and he is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on September 18.

KELLYVILLE: Thieves broke into a property in Norval St, Kellyville after they forced open a window. A lounge sofa and two chairs were stolen from the vacant property. The theft was discovered at 7am on Wednesday, August 23. The dining room chairs were later discovered in the yard.

SOUTH WINDSOR: A man on his learner’s licence had it suspended after he was caught going through a stop sign off Woods Rd, South Windsor last Monday. A police report said at 1.20pm they observed a black Jeep proceed through a stop sign at the intersection with Mileham St. The car was stopped by Police and the Narellan Vale man, 18, was subjected to a breath test which proved negative. The driver produced a learner’s permit, with no accompanying driver and no L-plates on the car. A subsequent roadside drug test returned a positive indication. The man was arrested for the purpose of a secondary test to be conducted at Windsor Police Station. A second positive result was returned at the police station. As a result, the man was issued with a licence suspension notice and a number of traffic infringement notices relating to travelling through a stop sign, learner driver unaccompanied and no L-plates displayed. Police will await the result of a final analysis before a further charge is likely to be preferred for the offence of drive vehicle, illicit drug present in blood.

KELLYVILLE: A 44-year-old resident returned to his Balmoral home at 4pm on Monday, August 21 and found two young people on the premises. Police say that two doors had been damaged and alcohol, a hairdryer and toiletries which were stolen were later recovered. Two teenagers from Stanhope Gardens, a 14-year-old and 16-year-old are being dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.

ROUSE HILL: A mobile phone was stolen from an office on a site in Annangrove Rd, Rouse Hill last week between 5.30pm Monday and 7am on Tuesday, August 22.
