Extra bus services are planned for Box Hill, Marsden Park, Schofields and Riverstone as part of 14,000 additional weekly services the State Government has promised across NSW.

More services are planned on route 662 from Riverstone to Box Hill, on the 746 from Riverstone to Rouse Hill and the 747 from Marsden Park to Rouse Hill via Marsden Park.

On routes 662 and 746, the government has promised extra peak and off peak services, extended hours of operation and new weekend services.

Existing peak services from Riverstone to Marsden Park on route 747 will be extended, along with extra peak and off peak frequency.

On the route 751 from Blacktown to Rouse Hill (via Colebee and Marsden Park), more weekend services are planned between Blacktown and Schofields.

A route will be introduced between Marsden Park’s Elara Estate and Schofields.

There will be extra weekday peak and Saturday services and Sunday services will start on the 663 from Pitt Town to Windsor.

The boost will be rolled out over the next four years.

Transport Minister Andrew Constance said patronage across the state rose by almost 55 per cent over the past eight years, from 214 million trips a year to 332 million journeys.

“By putting on more bus services we are making it easier for commuters to leave their cars at home easing congestion on our roads,’’ he said.

Riverstone state Labor candidate Annemarie Christie said the community had asked Riverstone state Liberal MP Kevin Conolly for more buses for several years.

“The last timetable change saw services in some of our local areas decrease,’’ she said.

“Our community needs a local MP who will advocate and fight for the services we need every day, not just in the three weeks leading up to an election.”
