Plans for a new multimillion-dollar commercial hub and childcare centre in the heart of Marsden’s Park’s growing suburbia have been lodged with Blacktown Council.
Developers have submitted plans for a $6.3 million project on the corner of Richmond Rd and Harmony Ave incorporating a childcare centre, gym, baby warehouse and cafe.
If approved, the currently vacant site would be occupied by a Baby Bunting store, Coffee Club cafe with a drive through, Snap Fitness gym and a Kiddiwunks childcare centre for up to 98 children.
According to planning documents, the childcare centre would operate Monday to Friday, from 6.30am to 6.30pm, catering primarily for infants and children, aged 0 to six years.
The gym would operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with two staff members on site and basement parking available for after-hours gym-goers.
The Baby Bunting store would occupy the ground level of the two-storey building and operate seven days a week, with extended trading on Thursday evenings.
The Coffee Club cafe will also occupy the ground floor, with seating for up to 50 patrons and a drive through lane available for takeaway food and coffee.
The plans also detailed a carpark accommodating up to 89 vehicles.
A planning report outlined the growing demand for childcare and retail services in the booming region.
“The proposed development will provide valuable services and convenient facilities for residents living within the Marsden Park area, employees within the locality and motorists travelling along Richmond Rd,” documents read.
“Marsden Park is undergoing a time of rapid growth and expansion as development has facilitated the suburb growing from 1008 in 2016 to 5272 in 2020.
“The development will make a positive contribution to the redevelopment of the northwest growth corridor of Sydney.”
