A 65-year-old man was beaten with a walking stick as up to five people watched on as he walked from Riverstone railway station last night.

A 65-year-old man suffered a gash to his forehead after being beaten with a walking stick - one of two assaults - as he walked from Riverstone railway station last night.
Police are appealing for help to identify up to five people, including one woman, they allege were present when the man was assaulted.
According to police the older man told them he was walking from the train station along Garfield Rd East about 9pm, when he was punched in the face by another man.
A short time later, he was assaulted again by the same person, who this time was with a group of five people, including at least one woman.
The man was punched and kicked repeatedly and hit with a walking stick, sustaining a large gash to his forehead, as well as a cut lip and swelling.
The injured man was taken to Riverstone police station where officers rendered assistance until Ambulance paramedics took him to Westmead Hospital.
