A LALOR Park man, 46, has been charged with a number offences – including police pursuit, Skye’s Law and driving furiously – after he took police on a chase through the Hills and Blacktown areas on Friday.

A police report said a man driving a blue Holden Commodore SSV8 was detected travelling in excess of 100km/h west along Windsor Rd, Northmead, on Friday at 3.09am.

Police observed the car had its headlights turned off and drove through road works along Windsor Rd at speed, which caused construction workers to move rapidly out of its way. The car then collided into a median strip and allegedly continued on its way.

According to the report, police attempted to stop the car, however they had to begin a pursuit, which took them through Northmead, where the car then turned left onto the M2 and travelled in excess of 160km/h in a westerly direction.

Large sections of rubber from the rear tyres could be seen to come off the wheels of the car, the report said.

The car left the M2 at the Abbott Rd exit and, by this time, was driving on the rims of the car, the police said.

The driver drove through Blacktown, Lalor Park, and Kings Park before entering the M7 at Kings Park into oncoming traffic.

The driver then exited the M7 at Bella Vista via the on-ramp and continued to drive on the wrong side of the road along Norwest Boulevarde.

According to police, at this stage there were sparks coming from the under carriage of the car.

Police managed to stop the driver at the intersection of Johnson Ave and Northcott Rd, Lalor Park, by positioning police cars as a barricade.

The Lalor Park man was also charged with resisting a police officer, driving a car while disqualified (until February 2031), using an unregistered car and being in custody of a knife in a public place.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Friday.
