For the Kellyville Kolts Soccer Club, there is much more to local sport than what happens on the field.

It was a community-first environment at Bernie Mullane Sports Complex on Sunday as the Kolts held a special all-abilities and women’s football fundraising event.

The day saw teams from Balmain, Randwick, St Ives and Wagga Wagga join the Kolts for a special round robin competition with members of the Kolts ladies and premier league teams helping out as coaches and chaperones for the players with greater needs.

“Kolts being an all-inclusive club, it makes sense to combine our female football celebrations with the players from our all abilities program so they can mix and enjoy the whole day together,” club president Bob Harrold said.

“We are actively involved in both the future growth of female football and all-abilities football as well catering for 1400 regular football players.

“Football NSW were also keen to make the day an inclusive event so it worked from all aspects.”

The club’s female football celebrations included fundraising efforts for the McGrath Foundation, with every female Kolts player donning a special pair of pink socks.

“Each year the Kolts sponsor a chosen charity,” Mr Harrold said.

“Last year it was Buy A Bale and this year it is the McGrath Foundation. We have a number of our members who have been affected by Breast Cancer and we feel that the McGrath Foundation do an excellent job in supplying the much needed nursing care to the females who are in need of specialist care.

“The final fund raising event will be on July 20 when our champion premier league teams take on Winston Hills in the annual Prattent Cup match.”
