Marcus Hosen has relished the opportunity to pull on the green and gold after representing Australia at the 2019 World Under-18 Ice Hockey Championships in Belgrade, Serbia last month.

The 15 year old from Rouse Hill helped Australia to one win from their five division two matches, which was enough for the Aussies to avoid relegation to division three.

For Marcus, who has been playing ice hockey since he was five, gaining that level of international experience was crucial for his future development in the sport.

“It was a great experience,” Marcus said.

“I remember feeling really nervous but I also really felt a strong responsibility to represent ice hockey back home.

“I learned so much in such a short period of time from both coaches and returning players.”

Along with juggling his studies at Glenwood High School, Marcus’ focus now turns to the 2019 Australian Ice Hockey league season.

“This year I have been picked up by the AIHL Sydney Ice Dogs to train with their squad and hopefully one day play for them,” he said.

Marcus is a nominee for the 2019 Rouse Hill Times Junior Sports Star award.

Nominations are now open NewsLocal’s Local Sports Star competition.
