IT’S all systems go for the Rouse Hill’s train station at Cudgegong Rd with the work started on the platform.

The frame of the first platform is in place at Cudgegong Rd, one of 31 Sydney Metro stations along the 65km route.

The Cudgegong Rd station platform is 187m long and 9m wide and will service a train every four minutes in the peak.

The station will also have 1,000 commuter car parking spaces.

The other local stations include the Skytrain at Rouse Hill Town Centre, Kellyville, Bella Vista, Norwest, Castle Hill Showground and Cherrybrook.

The Skytrain over Rouse Hill is moving smoothly with giant cranes over Windsor Rd connecting the metro line.

“We’re cracking on with delivering this mega project for Sydney and the hive of construction activity is continuing in the North West,” Transport Minister Andrew Constance said.

He also announced two short-listed consortia are invited to tender to build the twin metro tunnels under Sydney Harbour: Ferrovial, Acciona and BAM Joint Venture; and John Holland, CPB and Ghella Joint Venture.

The successful tenderer for the Sydney Metro City & Southwest Tunnel and Station Excavation contract will be responsible for carrying out the tunnelling and station excavations, including tunnelling from Chatswood, under Sydney Harbour and across the CBD.

“When Sydney Metro is extended into the CBD and beyond in 2024, there will be ultimate capacity for a metro train every two minutes in each direction under the city,” Mr Constance said.

The NSW Government expects to award the contract to build the tunnels around the middle of next year.”
