THE latest design has been approved for the Rouse Hill station one of the only two elevated stations in the $8.4 billion Sydney Metro Northwest rail link.
The Rouse Hill station will be more than 12m above ground as part of the 4km Skytrain currently being constructed near the Rouse Hill Town Centre. The other elevated station will be at Kellyville.
Earlier this year the government showed off the designs for the Cudgegong Road station, which is also in Rouse Hill.
According to Transport and Infrastructure Minister Andrew Constance — who also unveiled the design for the Castle Hill station — the Rouse Hill Station will become a new hub for commuters.
The station designs focus on customer needs with features including easy access using lifts and escalators, weather protection and allowing the maximum amount of natural light.
“Sydney Metro will change the way of life forever in the Hills region, for the first time delivering a reliable public transport service to an area that will grow to twice the size of Canberra in coming decades,” Mr Constance said.
“These stations are being designed to make it easier for customers to get where they need to go — to work, shopping, school, uni or sport.”
These stations will feature Australian-first state-of-the-art platform screen doors, which keep objects like prams away from the edge and allow trains to get in and out of stations much faster.
There will also be bus interchanges at these stations as well as bicycle storage, taxi spaces and kiss-and-ride areas.
