GLENWOOD High School turned into a riot of colour and culture with their recent Harmony Day proving a big hit with the students and staff.
Showcase, which featured performances from indigenous students and others groups, including Greek, African, Pacific Island and Indian, was the most popular event.
A multicultural food fair, a visit by guide dog Shelley to all age groups and student-led lessons for Years 7 and 8 were among the other highlights.
Year 10s Aryan Singh and Year 11’s Charlotte Dawson said Harmony Day has always been an event they looked forward to each year.
“To me, Harmony Day is a day of celebrating our schools’ diverse multiculture, and having acceptance for everyone no matter what your background is,” Aryan said.
“Also it’s an opportunity to experience other cultures through amazing traditional performances and delicious cultural cuisine.
“Harmony Day at Glenwood High is a great day and I always look forward to it each year.”
Charlotte Dawson added: “Harmony Day is something I look forward to all year, seeing everyone’s traditional dress, and tasting food of different countries.
“It really does create a more harmonious atmosphere, and I am proud to be apart of it every year.”
