ARE you one of those people who has a desk drawer with odds and ends of stationery which just need a good clean-out?

Instead of up-ending the drawer into a bin, how about donating these preloved pieces to Stanhope Village’s Second Life Stationery drive to help children in need as they start the school year.

Second Life Stationery is a small family-focused not-for-profit organisation founded by mother-of-two Natalie Wall, which collects, cleans, sorts, packs and redistributes both gently-used and new stationery and school gear through organisations aimed at helping disadvantaged families.

“I started Second Life Stationery in January last year after having a light bulb moment getting my two children ready for school,” she said.

“I was thinking about all the stationery I needed to get them for school when I realised I had enough, if I just sorted through my drawers.

“It also got me thinking how many other families have drawers or pencil cases with the same bits and pieces inside and also how many other families who don’t have anything for their children.”

Second Life Stationery has donated more than 270 backpacks filled with school supplies.

Stanhope Village’s Second Life Stationery drive marks the not-for-profit organisation’s first shopping centre drive and a first for Western Sydney.

Stanhope Village marketing manager Lisa Curtin said donations will particularly assist students through a new partnership with Blacktown Women’s and Girl’s Health Centre and Junaya Family Development Services.

Donations will be accepted until Sunday.
