Shoppers at two busy centres in Stanhope Gardens and Rouse Hill in Sydney’s north-west have tested positive for COVID-19.
NSW Health has advised a shopper was infectious when they visited Stanhope Village Shopping Centre, including Kmart and Leaf Cafe, at Stanhope Gardens on Monday, September 7, between 8.30am and 9.30am.
A customer who visited Rouse Hill Town Centre, Rouse Hill, including Target, Terry White Chemist and Donut King, had also contracted the virus, and visited the centre on Saturday, September 5, between 12.30pm and 1.30pm.
People who visited the centres on these dates at the specified times are considered casual contacts and have been urged to monitor for symptoms and to get tested and isolate immediately if any should arise.
A Stanhope Village spokesperson said the centre, including Kmart and Leaf Cafe, would remain open.
“Leaf Cafe and Kmart are working closely with NSW Health and are able to remain trading at this time,” the centre wrote in a statement.
“Based on current health advice, customers in our wider community who may have visited other retailers in the centre, or visited during other times, should not be alarmed.
“The centre and all other retailers will remain open.”
The shopping centre underwent a deep clean on Monday night
A spokesperson from Rouse Hill Town Centre said it would also remain open.
“Rouse Hill Town Centre will continue with precautionary hygiene measures already implemented, including heightened cleaning regimes, hand sanitisers throughout the centre and social distancing messaging in place,” a statement read.
“NSW Health has deemed the risk to customers and staff as low (casual contacts). Casual contacts are not required to self-isolate in their homes unless they develop symptoms”
