A shopper at Westfield Mt Druitt has tested positive for coronavirus.

NSW Health has advised a shopper was infectious when they visited the centre on August 12, between 12pm and 12.30pm, and August 14, between 11am and 12pm.

People who visited the centre on these dates have been urged to monitor for symptoms and to get tested and isolate immediately if any should arise.

The centre was associated with a COVID-19 case last month after a shopper infected with the virus attended the centre on July 18.

At the time, a Westfield Mt Druitt spokesperson said the health and wellbeing of customers and employees was a priority.

“We apply the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene across our Westfield Centres,” the spokesperson said.

“We have increased the routine cleaning of frequently-touched hard surfaces, including in car parks.”

Further questions about contact tracing should be directed to NSW Health.

According to data from NSW Health, eight locally-acquired cases have been confirmed in the Blacktown Local Government Area in the past four weeks.

Of these cases, zero are from an unknown source.

A NSW Health spokesperson has urged anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms to “assume they have the virus”.

“While case numbers have remained low this week, the virus continues to circulate in the community and vigilance must be maintained,” the spokesperson said.

“It is vital that high rates of testing continue in order to find the source of the cases still under investigation and to identify and stop further spread of the virus.

“NSW Health is urging anyone with even the mildest of symptoms – including runny nose, sore throat, cough, or loss of taste and smell – to come forward for testing.

“It is the best way to protect your family, friends and the wider community.”
