Coronavirus: Costco Marsden Park employee tests positive to COVID-19

Costco’s Marsden Park warehouse will remain open to shoppers despite a staff member testing positive to coronavirus this week.
A letter sent to staff today confirmed an employee had been infected with the virus and had worked at the store as recently as Monday.
In the memo, Costco Australia country manager Patrick Noone said the company was responding immediately to the situation, by tracking down potential contacts and ramping up sanitisation in store.
There has been no mention of a possible store closure.
“We are undertaking additional cleaning and sanitation protocols and will continue our daily enhanced cleaning,” Mr Noone said.
“We will communicate directly with co-workers known to have been in close contact with the individual.”
Store staff have been advised to wear face masks and gloves.
“Please continue to practise social distancing to the best of your abilities and good hygiene – cover cough/sneeze, wash hands thoroughly and often and stay home if sick,” he said.
It is not known what department the staff member worked in and whether they had contact with members of the public while infectious.
The warehouse has had a surge in customer demand due to panic buying, with police in recent weeks called to the Marsden Park and Casula stores to assist with crowd control.
As of 8pm on Tuesday, there were 2734 confirmed COVID-19 cases in NSW and 21 deaths across the state.
