Cue the emotive piano theme song and revisit Wandin Valley because an exhibition about much-loved Aussie soap A Country Practice is being planned at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery.
The long-running show, which ran from 1981 to 1993, was filmed in the Hawkesbury including Pitt Town and Ebenezer, and fans of the series are invited to lend objects such as props, costumes, photos, fan cards, newspaper and magazine articles, and posters.
The gallery is also interested in hearing your stories about interacting with the show’s cast when filming was under way.
The series starred the late Penny Cook, Georgie Parker and was also where Nicole Kidman and Toni Collette performed before getting their big breaks in Hollywood.
The show followed the workings of a small hospital in the fictional country town of Wandin Valley as well as its connected medical clinic, the town’s veterinary surgery, RSL club and police station.
You can take a walk around Ebenezer and Pitt town and see Dr Elliot’s surgery, Frank and Shirl’s house, the Wandin Valley church and hospital, and Muldoon’s Store.
Many farms and properties were also used for location shoots.
The exhibition will run from December 6 to February 2, when visitors can reminisce and reflect on the series when archival film and production will also be shown.
To contribute to the exhibition, contact Kath von Witt on 4560 4440 or email
kathleen.vonwitt@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au before Friday, October 25.
