A man who allegedly threatened a 55-year-old woman with a knife during a Blue Mountains home invasion was on parole at the time, a court heard.
Braidon Wallace, 26, appeared on screen in Penrith Local Court today, charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence.
According to police Wallace walked through an unlocked door in the woman’s house on Hawkesbury Rd, Winmalee, around 11.30am on Monday, before flashing his knife and ransacking the home.
A struggle allegedly ensued between Wallace and the 55-year-old woman before her two adult sons — aged 24 and 19 — went to her aid.
Police allege Wallace then fled the scene, and was arrested by officers from the Blue Mountain Police Area Command at 2pm on George St, Springwood.
The woman and her younger son suffered minor injuries, which police say did not require any medical treatment.
A lawyer acting for Wallace told the court his client is on parole, has been homeless for much of his adult life and had only recently found accommodations in the form of public housing.
Her said his client was concerned he would lose his housing and become effectively homeless again if he were to remain in custody.
Magistrate Stephen Corry told the court Wallace presented an unacceptable and significant risk to the community, and victims of his alleged offending, and denied his bail application.
Wallace is scheduled to return before Penrith District Court on February 3.
