A specialist police officer charged over a crash which allegedly left two teenagers seriously injured at Penrith will fight the charges in court.
Senior Constable Gerd Schmahl, who was part of an unnamed specialist command, was charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm after the police car he was driving allegedly collided with an unregistered trail bike ridden by two 14-year-old boys on November 3.
It is alleged Schmahl, 53, was patrolling Mulgoa Rd following reports of an unregistered trail bike in the area, spotted it and then crashed into it a short time later.
Schmahl, who is not in custody, did not physically face Penrith Local Court for his matter to be heard on April 24, but pleaded not guilty to all charges through his lawyer.
A brief of evidence was then ordered.
Schmahl is next expected to face court on June 5.
His employment status remains under review.
