Penrith foodies could be spoilt with yet another delicious choice if plans for a new restaurant to join the fold are approved by Penrith Council.

The plans would see a Vietnamese restaurant take over the old Penrith Press office on High St, nestled between High St Pies & Pastries and the Happy Inn Chinese Restaurant.

If approved, it would be the first time the site had been in use for more than three years.

The restaurant, with the planned name of The Savoury Dining, would take up the ground floor of the site, and add new street and rear signage at the back of the building.

There are also plans to build a cool room, freezer room, and garbage room out the back of the building, which was once a post office.

Inside, there would be two function rooms and a dining area with the capacity to sit 168 people once COVID-19 restrictions have ended.

A carpark, with space for five cars, would be developed out the back of the restaurant.

There are currently no plans for works on the top level of the site.

According to a plan of management submitted with the DA, the new restaurant would add at least 14 jobs to the local economy, including four chefs.

The Savoury Dining would join Pho Penrith, Hi Pho, and Roll’d as Vietnamese dining options near High St.
