A woman who flashed her vagina and breasts at a young mother before assaulting her two-year-old child at a western Sydney train station has been found guilty on two charges in court.

Susan Hall, 57, of North St Marys, was found guilty of common assault and wilful and obscene exposure by Magistrate Geoffrey Hiatt at Penrith Local Court on Wednesday.

During the hearing, the young victim’s mother, who can’t be named for legal purposes, told the court she first noticed Hall at the St Marys railway station on November 18 last year when she was waving both middle fingers at her.

“I heard her call me a slut, and then she grabbed the top of her clothing and pulled it down to show her breasts,” the woman said.

“I said ‘what the f*** are you doing’, then she put one leg in the air and flashed her vagina at me.

“I once again said ‘what the f*** are you doing, I’m with my daughter’, and she replied ‘f*** your daughter you f****** slut’.”

The woman said she and the father of the child tried to leave, but Hall followed them and started an argument.

“Out of nowhere, she was holding a can of alcohol and she shook it out on my daughter,” the woman said.

“It landed on her face and the pram.”

The woman said she went and found police shortly after the incident.

The court was shown photos of a wet patch in the pram taken about 10 minutes after the incident, and body-worn video of Hall’s interactions with police once she was placed under arrests.

Two police officers told the court her behaviour on the day was “erratic” and that she appeared to be intoxicated.

In her defence, Hall told the court she had not flashed the young mother or deliberately poured liquid on her daughter.

She told the court she’d bought a bottle of port from a nearby supermarket and had drunk “about three quarters of a coffee mug” before the incident.

She said she couldn’t recall whether she’d waved her middle fingers at the mother, but said she definitely hadn’t flashed her.

“The argument between myself and the father got heated, and I poured a can of mineral water on him, then he splashed water on me,” she said.

“The liquid from him could have accidentally splashed over his daughter.”

Magistrate Hiatt said he had concerns with Hall’s “selective memory” of the events.

“I note that in her evidence, she was particular in some aspects but had some difficulty recalling other aspects,” he said.

He found Hall guilty of both charges. She was fined $300 for wilful and obscene exposure and given a 12-month conditional release order with conviction for common assault.
