A St Marys woman who allegedly coordinated a fake harassment campaign against herself which led to the arrest of another woman has been refused bail.
Emma Elizabeth Arnold, 29, faced Penrith Local Court today on a string of charges after she allegedly reported a fake death threat to police and claimed that a 51-year-old woman was responsible.
Police allege that in May and July, Arnould claimed to have received threatening texts to her phone.
On August 21, police say she reported having a written death threat and a box of items left at her St Marys home.
A significant police investigation commenced and based on Arnould’s reports, a 51-year-old woman was arrested at a Blaxland home on August 26. She was arrested and taken to Springwood Police Station and issued with an Apprehended Violence Order.
Further investigations uncovered CCTV footage and phone evidence which allegedly showed Arnould as being behind the threats.
Police allege Arnould attempted to frame the older woman as revenge for past court matters.
Arnould was arrested at a home on Thompson Ave, St Marys, at 7.30am today and taken to Penrith Police Station.
She faces six charges, including: making a false accusation with intent to subject another to investigation, threatening to prevent information to police, making a false official instrument to pervert the course of justice, acting with intent to obtain gain from a carriage service provider and two counts of making a false official instrument to pervert the course of justice.
She was refused bail during an appearance at Penrith Local Court today.
The AVO proceedings against the older woman have been withdrawn.
The matter will return to Penrith Local Court on November 8.
