A man with links to the OneFour street gang has admitted to leading a violent brawl at a Pacific Islander footy match in Mt Druitt which left two men seriously injured.

Benjamin Falefoou, 21, appeared at Mt Druitt Local Court today pleading guilty to one count of affray after a violent altercation at a Samoa vs Tonga rugby league day at Federation Forest on October 5.

Police say Mr Falefoou attended the Toko Uso Cup with up to 10 other young Islander males, believed to be members of the OneFour gang, and attacked two men in front of a crowd of spectators.

Court documents reveal the melee broke out near a toilet block in front of a crowd of spectators, where Mr Falefoou and the other males assaulted the men, aged 23 and 21.

“While on the floor, numerous males from the group have kicked and stomped on the heads of the two victims,” police said.

“Witnesses state that there were at least four males assaulting each victim while they were lying on the floor.”

The 21-year-old man was left unconscious and suffered serious facial injuries before being treated at Westmead Hospital. The 23-year-old man was taken to Nepean Hospital with cuts and bruises to his head.

After witnesses intervened, Mr Falefoou and his group fled the scene before he was detained by a bystander and arrested by an off-duty police officer.

It was not known whether Mr Falefoou and the victims were known to each other or if there was a motive behind the brawl.

Police said Mr Falefoou was an associate of the OneFour gang, which is known for its violent confrontations in public.

“(Mr Falefoou) was present with a number of members of a street gang that is known for extreme public violence,” police said in court documents.

“The gang commits violence at varying times of day and night.

“Some of these incidents have been the subject of national media attention and committed with no regard for the safety of onlookers.”

OneFour or Greater West is a Mt Druitt-based gang involved in public order incidents and revenge attacks related to social media and hip hop groups.

The gang shares its name with a rap group which is also based in the area. The rap group has no affiliations with the gang.

As part of his bail conditions, Mr Falefoou has been banned from having contact with a string of people, who police say are suspects in the case.

A spokesman from Rugby League Samoa NSW (RLSNSW) said the incident was not football-related.

“The individuals involved in the incident are not associated with Rugby League Samoa NSW Chapter, Tonga Juniors or Minchinbury Jets JRLC, and do not represent the interests of either organisation or the game of rugby league,” the spokesman said.

He will be sentenced on December 11.
