Loyola High School’s opens team romped to a convincing win in the final of the Mark Geyer Rugby League Cup at Pepper Stadium.
Loyola High defeated Richmond High 38-20.
The tournament started at the beginning of the second term and the Loyola High team have remained undefeated. Team manager Di McKinnon attributed the teams success to “approaching every game with a positive attitude”.
“It’s the second year in a row that we have won the event,” Mrs McKinnon said.
Competition manager Ben James said the school teams enjoyed playing at Pepper Stadium.
Chief guest Mark Geyer said the organisers of the tournament planned to make it much bigger next year with more teams taking part. He said the plan was to double the number of schools in the competition.
“It’s good to see these young players having a dig,” he said.
Mrs McKinnon said Loyola High would be playing in the semi-final of the GIO Rugby League trophy at Kogarah on August 3.
