Paddle Australia’s canoe slalom team has had a weekend to forget at the second round of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Leonay’s Jessica Fox, along with national teammates Daniel Watkins, Lucien Delfour and Tim Anderson were all eliminated at the semi-final stage of their respective events on Sunday.
Fox picked up three gate touches as she battled her way down the difficult course, ultimately missing out on the women’s C1 final with an 11th-place finish.
She was later joined on the sidelines by her male counterparts as they too succumbed to the rough waters.
Anderson’s 24th-place finish was the best of the men in the K1 semi-finals with Watkins and Delfour finishing 28th and 39th respectively.

Despite the end result, Delfour said he was looking forward to bouncing back in round three this weekend.
“I felt really good at the start, I was happy with my lines and felt like I had good timing,” Delfour said.
“I had a good feeling on the water, but I’m not too sure what happened around gate 16, maybe I was a little too optimistic.
“That was pretty much the end of the run for me, at gate 16. Next week is another week.”
After a strong sixth-place finish in the women’s K1 on Saturday, Fox sits at second place in the world cup overall standings through the first two rounds.
The Australian team is now in Tacen, Slovenia ahead of the third round of competition, which takes place in Ljubljana, Slovenia this weekend.
