Police appeal to public following armed home invasion in Penrith

Armed attackers who stormed a western Sydney home before getting locked in a tussle with the occupants remain at large - prompting police to call for public assistance.

A violent home invasion, which involved three people force entry into a Penrith home before ransacking a room, is under investigation.

Police are appealing to the public for information following the terrifying incident on Saturday about 2.15am when two men and a woman broke into a house on Derby St armed with a wench and a machete.

Once inside the house the trio threatened and assaulted the three residents before ransacking a bedroom.

During a struggle, the residents managed to disarm the offenders who then fled.

A 25-year-old occupant was taken to hospital for treatment but is expected to make a full recovery.

No arrests or charges have since been laid with police searching for information to assist in their investigations, appealing to anyone who may have mobile phone, CCTV, or dashcam footage to contact Penrith police station.
