A 64-year-old Baulkham Hills man has been charged over alleged historical child sex abuse at a Sydney’s boys home.

Peter William Henry was arrested in May following a four-year police strike force investigating alleged child sex abuse at the Daruk Training School at Berkshire Park, near Windsor, between 1965 and 1985. More than eight people have been charged as part of the investigation.

The matter was heard at Penrith Courthouse on Thursday.

Henry has been charged with six counts of indecently assaulting a male and two counts of sexual assault without consent. Police allege the offences, said to have taken place on the Central Coast, Marrickville and Berkshire Park, were on a single victim between 1978 and 1981.

The police investigation was launched in 2016 as a result of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

The 64-year-old did not appear at Penrith Local Court where the charges were mentioned for the first time, with his lawyer appearing by telephone.

Magistrate Brian Van Zuylen ordered for the brief of evidence to be served on Henry’s legal team in coming weeks.

The matter will return to court on September 4.
