Penrith’s Tattersall’s Hotel is one of four licensed premises on the State Government’s violent venues list.

Tattersall’s Hotel recorded 12 violent incidents over the past 12 months to be listed as a level two venue.

The Panthers’ Leagues Club was removed from the list after being listed as level two in the last list.

No venues in NSW were listed as level one (having more than 18 violent incidents in a 12-month period).

The Ivy in Sydney topped the list with 15 incidents, followed by the Imperial Hotel in Tamworth with 13.

Northies Cronulla Hotel was the final premises on the list with 12 incidents.

Tattersall’s licensee Amanda Grant said a bad few months earlier in the year made up the majority of the incidents.

“These incidents happened when we had the nightclub, which stopped operating at the end of July,” she said.

“We put a lot of measures into place, but we weren’t expecting the volume of people at the beginning.

“We ended up not having enough security guards.”

However, Ms Grant said the venue had three incident-free months before the nightclub closed.

“We got things right, but unfortunately those first few months impacted on the rest of the year,” she said. “This is the after effect.

“The biggest factor is the amount of security and having the right kind of guards.

“We have a scan-in system in place, so if they misbehave they’ll be barred from not just our venue, but a lot of others around the state.

“We’re confident we won’t be on the list next time.”

While on the list, Tattersall’s will be forced to stop serving alcohol 30 minutes prior to closing.

It also won’t be able to serve drinks in glass containers after midnight, and must stop serving alcohol for at least 10 minutes every hour after midnight.

Panthers Club was contacted for comment.
