One of Sydney’s biggest building supply chains could soon be coming to Penrith.

No. 1 Roofing & Building Supplies has applied to build a large industrial warehouse north of Penrith’s CBD to house its seventh store in Sydney and ninth in NSW.

The $2 million project would be built in the existing ‘Parklands Industrial Estate’ across the road from the Hickeys Lane Reserve.

The store would sell large-scale building supplies including roofing, cladding, and skylights as well as smaller building tools.

A planner for the company said the warehouse would have more than 2100 square metres of floor space.

“The building includes a ground floor area of 1900.9 square metres and a mezzanine storage area of 215.7 square metres,” he said.

“There is an awning area of 125.7 square metres, and 21 carparking spaces, including one accessible space.”

The planner said the company would carry out several industrial type operations on site.

“We will load and unload steel sheeting and associated products to and from delivery vehicles, as well as display products in our showroom,” he said.

“The warehouse will store steel sheeting, which will be cut to ordered lengths by a single cutting machine.

“Machinery is typical of light industrial use, including forklifts and light gauge metal cutting and slitting machines, and is not excessively loud.”

The planner said the warehouse would operate from 3am to 5.30pm every day and expected a maximum of 10 staff at any given time.

Deliveries to and from the warehouse would commence after 5am, and an average of 12 customer visits were expected each day.
