Meet the candidates for the Federal seat of Macquarie
Less than five days until the nation goes to the polls, meet the candidates for the seat of Macquarie.
The seat of Macquarie takes in the suburbs of Glenbrook, Springwood, Mt Riverview, Lapstone, Yellow Rock and Winmalee, Blaxland and Warrimoo.
In order of the ballot here are your candidates:
1. Sarah Richards, Liberal
“I am a mother of three beautiful children, Jasmine, Lucy and Max.
“I am a councillor at Hawkesbury Council and I volunteer on a range of local boards. I am also a lawyer and journalist.
“I enjoy watching rugby league, having been a former referee. I also enjoy reading, going to the movies and making a difference to my community in my many local roles.”
2. Kingsley Liu, Greens
“I was born in Australia to Chinese immigrant parents and trained in engineering and law.
“I run my own law firm to litigate for disadvantaged persons and at court I have run human rights cases from the Christmas Island boat tragedy to minority organisations.”
3. Susan Templeman, Labor (incumbent)
“My husband and I have lived in the Blue Mountains for 28 years and raised our two children here.
I’ve been the Federal Member for Macquarie since 2016 and this will be my fourth election contesting this seat.
“I enjoy gardening and there is nothing like an empty block to inspire you. I also enjoy music and reading.”
4. Greg Keightley, Animal Justice Party
“I have lived in the Blue Mountains for 35 years and been an advocate for environmental, animal rescue and community issues for 20 years.”
5. Tony Pettitt, United Australia Party
“I am 64 and have lived in the north western suburbs most of this life. I have been interested in politics since the 1980s and have run as a candidate in many elections council, state and federal.
“My hobby is building up a historic collection of all Australian and English Howard Machinery covering almost 100 years.”
