A man, 40, has been placed in an induced coma with serious injuries after his car collided with a pole overnight.

A man has been rushed to hospital, suffering serious injuries, after his car collided with a pole at Springwood overnight.
At 5.30pm yesterday the man, 40, was heading east on the Great Western Highway when the accident occurred.
Wires fell across the major highway and traffic backed up for several kilometres.
The man remained trapped in the vehicle for more than an hour.
No other people were injured in the single vehicle accident.
CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked to help, landing on Leonay Oval not far from the scene.
Police quickly conveyed the critical care team to the scene where NSW Ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment to the man.
CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided further treatment at the scene for injuries to the head, chest and limbs.
The man was intubated and placed in an induced coma to stabilise him.
NSW Fire and Rescue crews were able to cut the man free and he was moved to a road ambulance under the CareFlight team’s care.
He was taken to hospital by road, accompanied by CareFlight’s critical care team, in a serious but stable condition.
