Lithgow stabbing: Man attacked by car vandals

Police are appealing for information after a 49-year-old man was stabbed in the chest after he confronted a group that were damaging his car outside his own home.

A man has been stabbed in the chest after confronting a group of vandals damaging his car outside his Lithgow home.

Emergency services were called to Stewart St, Lithgow about 11.40pm on Tuesday after reports of a stabbing.

Arriving on scene, officers found a 49-year-old man had been stabbed in the chest.

The man told police he had seen a group of people damaging his car, which was parked outside his home. When he confronted them, they assaulted him and then left.

The man was treated by paramedics before he was flown to Nepean Hospital in a stable condition. His injuries are not life threatening.

Police are asking for public assistance and anyone with information or dashcam vision from the area is urged to contact police.
