Dennis Wilson, 36, refused to appear before Magistrate Brian van Zuylen in Penrith Local Court on Tuesday, and his matter was adjourned for Wednesday.
Police said a 50-year-old woman was walking to Kingswood Railway Station at about 5.15am on February 12 when she was approached by two males near the intersection of Joseph and Amaroo streets.
She was allegedly assaulted and had her backpack – containing a wallet and phone - stolen before the two men fled the scene.
The woman was later taken to Nepean Hospital by her partner where she was treated for multiple facial injuries.
During investigations, police searched the address of a 27-year-old man on Friday, February 14, where a number of relevant items were seized.
Those items will undergo forensic examination.
On Saturday, officers from the Police Transport Command were called to the St Marys bus interchange to reports of an argument.
Wilson was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.
He was also charged with resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty.
