Kingswood: George Cavender cops heavy fine for street racing
A magistrate has slammed a young hoon and told him to grow up after he was busted flying more than 60km/h over the limit in his Toyota 86 during an illegal street race.

A young man has copped a whopping fine after he drove more than 60km/h over the speed limit during an illegal street race in western Sydney.
George Mark Cavender, 22, of Colebee, pleaded guilty to organising or taking part in an illegal street race and exceeding speed more than 45km/h before Magistrate Fiona Toose at Penrith Local Court on Thursday.
According to court documents, police were conducting speed enforcement on the Great Western Highway near Morley Ave, Kingswood, at about 12.25am on May 3 when they heard cars revving behind them.
No less than five seconds later, police saw a white Toyota 86 and a red Peugeot 206 at speeds of approximately 120km/h in a 60km/h zone.
Police determined the two cars were racing and activated lights and sirens.
As they caught up to the vehicles, the Toyota turned left into George St while the Peugeot stopped just past George St.
When police approached the Toyota, they saw Cavender in the driver’s seat and another male in the passenger’s seat.
When Cavender was asked if he had a reason for speeding or street racing, he simply replied “no”.
During his court appearance, his lawyer told the court Cavender’s seven-year relationship with his fiancee had broken down late in 2019 and he had lost his grandfather in the UK in March, 2020.
She also told the court Cavender did not know the driver of the Peugeot before the incident.
Magistrate Toose told Cavender it was time for him to “grow up”.
“You are a P-plate driver, and you’ve already had your license taken from you for drink driving – grow up,” she said.
“If you don’t soon realise the road rules also apply to you, people won’t want you on the road.
“You’ve got to start reflecting on what you’re doing and thinking about how you’re responding to others.
“Somebody could have been hurt, or worse, killed. The Great Western Highway is there for people to drive on – if you want to be a car racer, take yourself out to Eastern Creek.”
Cavender was fined $4000 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
