Drunk driver Kelly Aino Brady has pleaded guilty to killing father Steven Arnold when she was allegedly driving three times over the legal limit at North Richmond last year.
The 41-year-old appeared at Parramatta Local Court on Thursday, nine months after she drove on the road side of the road and ploughed into the car of Mr Arnold, 41, and his co-worker Aaron Shepherd on the Bells Line of Road.
Father-of-two Mr Arnold was reportedly on his way to work and died instantly. Mr Shepherd broke several bones, bled internally and required almost 50 stitches to his face.
Brady, of Kurrajong, was charged with a blood alcohol reading of 0.150, making her three times over the legal drinking limit.
At court today, she appeared before Magistrate Tim Keady and pleaded guilty to aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death and aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.
She also faces back-up charges of negligent driving (occasioning death), negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm), driving with high range PCA and not keeping left of a dividing line.
Two charges — dangerous driving occasioning death (drive manner dangerous) and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm (drive manner dangerous) — were withdrawn.
Magistrate Keady continued Brady’s bail and the matter was adjourned to Parramatta District Court on September 25.
