Just months after launching plans to rebuild the Log Cabin along the Nepean River, Laundy Hotels has released a proposal for another watering hole in Penrith.

Stimson and Baker planning, on behalf of Laundy Hotels, has lodged a development application with Penrith Council last week for the Jordan Springs Tavern, a pub that would be built near the heart of the popular estate.

If approved, the pub would join Laundy Hotels’ long list of venues, including the Marsden Brewhouse in Marsden Park and The Locker Room at Sydney’s Olympic Park.

The pub, expected to cost almost $8.5 million, would be a single-storey building with a large beer garden and children’s play area at the northern front on Lakeside Pde.

The main bar and dining area would be almost 300 sqm, while the gaming area would take up just over 150 sqm and accommodate 25 gaming machines.

There are also plans for exterior seating overlooking the beer garden, and a carpark with 48 spaces.

A planner from Stimson and Baker said the hotel would “activate” the area of Jordan Springs.

“There will be an increased opportunity for social relations and gatherings for members of the community due to the availability of a local venue and the decreased need to travel outside the suburb,” they said.

“As a growing population in Jordan Springs, the provision of an entertainment venue is considered to have a positive social interconnectedness.

“The proposed pub would not result in any unacceptable impact on the locality.”

Registered in 2011, Jordan Springs is one of western Sydney’s newest suburbs.

Once part of Llandilo, Jordan Springs sits on the site of the former St Marys Defence Site which was sold to developers Lendlease in 2004.
