Henry St, Penrith: Fire in former Game Traders building
Dozens of firefighters have battled a terrifying blaze at a well known building in Sydney’s west with reports of flames reaching as high as 15m.

A commercial and retail building on Henry St, Penrith has been ravaged by fire with flames reaching 15m in height.
The ex ‘Game Traders’ building, located at 116 Henry St, caught on fire in the early hours of Monday morning.
Police have closed roads around the Penrith building this morning, as firefighters continue to battle the blaze.
Penrith Press spoke to Inspector Bob Mey on scene this morning.
“Investigation to the cause is still underway,” he said.
“We’ve got a fresh crew in there at the moment, there’s still a bit of smouldering. Crews are currently setting up to go inside for final extinguishment.
“Until the investigation is complete, it won’t be known if the circumstances are suspicious,” Inspector Mey said.
The main area of the fire damage is on the Henry St side of the complex.
Ringers Penrith, an Aussie family owned business, announced it had been affected by the fire this morning.
Emergency services were called to Henry Street and found a store well alight at 1.21am, with 55 firefighters arriving on scene at 1.27am.
Firefighters were met with flames 15m high coming out of the second level of the building.
The fire was contained to the second level of the brick building.
As Fire and Rescue NSW worked to extinguish the blaze, officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command closed Henry Street between Station Street and Gaymark Lane.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
NSW Fire and Rescue said the building had sustained significant structural damage, adding there has been cracking in the structure.
Road closures will remain in place until the site is secured, and assessed by engineers.
There has been no reports of injuries.
An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire, and anyone with information or dashcam vision from the area at the time, is urged to contact police.
