Glenmore Park HomeCo approved for $11.7 million food hub and commercial building

Grand plans to revamp a shopping centre in the Penrith area have been given the green light, with a food hub, multistorey office building and Service NSW branch to be built on the site.

A much-needed facelift of Glenmore Park shopping centre has been given the green light, with the precinct set to welcome a new food hub and multistorey commercial building.

The $11.7 million upgrade by HomeCo is set to reinvigorate the retail complex, with new dining options and a “town square” part of the plans.

The approved plans will see the centre boost the number of retail offerings and office space, redevelop the Youth and Community Centre and deliver basement parking.

One building will be demolished to make way for a food hub and new multistorey commercial development.

The town centre redevelopment will incorporate an expansion of retail and office spaces, revamped Youth and Community Centre (YCC), dining spaces and a new Town Square.

Planning documents state the Town Terrace redevelopment will keep the majority of the centre’s existing structures, with the improvements to deliver “a modern and … responsive town centre precinct”.

Planning documents state the three-storey office building would expand the precinct's employment opportunities, along with a new medical centre and retail premises.

With the Glenmore Park area experiencing rapid population and economic growth, HomeCo said in planning documents the expansion was in response to market demand.

The masterplan for the new town centre addressed several urban design issues including the inconvenient separation of the two main shopping centre structures and poor pedestrian accessibility.

Planning documents also indicate the shopping centre will include a Service NSW branch.
