The Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce is calling on the NSW State Government to locate the Western City and Aerotropolis Authority in Penrith.

With the aerotropolis moving forward, the authority has been established to handle the design and delivery of the major project.

The Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce is pushing for that authority to be based in Penrith.

Chamber President Simon Gould said Penrith is the most practical location for the authority and the benefits to the local economy would add further benefits.

“We believe locating the WCAA in Penrith would decentralise the Government’s workforce from the already congested CBD’s of Sydney and Parramatta while also delivering benefits to Penrith’s local businesses,” Mr Gould said.

“The Authority really does need to be located in the Third City If WSA is to be a major economic development in its own right, and not just seen as Sydney’s second airport.”

Heath Infrastructure NSW CEO Sam Sangster has been announced as the leader of the authority. It is understood other areas such as Parramatta and Liverpool are being considered as possible locations for the authority.

Mr Gould has called on Penrith state Liberal MP Stuart Ayres to advocate on behalf of the community to help Penrith secure this opportunity.

“Penrith is the closest city to the Airport and has the greatest share of development land around the Airport including the Aerotropolis.

“We sincerely hope to see our local member, Stuart Ayres, advocating for this on behalf of all local businesses.”

It is not known at this stage when it will be announced where the authority will be based.
